A WORLD OF CHRISTMAS
Audiences at Saltburn were given a rare insight before
Christmas – finding out what Santa wears under his kilt!!
If you’re confused you must have missed our sell out World
of Christmas extravaganza that wowed the crowd for three nights
at Saltburn Community Theatre in December. The cast took us on a
whistle-stop tour of Christmas around the world taking in numbers from
Hungary to Trinidad. Some connections were a little tentative, hence a Scottish
Santa in a kilt brought to life by Tim Peacock with his usual effervescent verve. Other highlights included the delicate rendition of Silent Night by Dorothy Lowther and the rousing Hallelujah Chorus by the entire cast; many may have thought they might not pull it off, but they did!
We also showcased some of the excellent film making that the company have been undertaking under the direction of our film coach, James. Only Earthbeat could incorporate Dracula and assorted ghouls into a Christmas show but they did it with true panache in the Christmas in Transylvania film. Watching Stuart Harrison’s Dracula and friends having Christmas dinner really had the audience rocking with laughter. The Christmas in Hawaii film brought some very welcome warmth and sunshine into the theatre despite the biting cold and snow outside.
We’re amazed that we managed to completely sell out the theatre for three nights and also raise £1200 for UNICEF’s work in Haiti when the weather was so bad and times so hard. A big thank you to all our supporters.
