MOULIN ROUGE

It’s a big statement (and it’s one we’ve used before) but we think that Moulin Rouge was possibly our best show to date. It was funny, dramatic, colourful, bold and pretty darned sassy. The music was fantastic and all of the performers sang superbly but what made Moulin Rouge so special was the fast and daring dance routines. The audiences were left almost as breathless as the dancers at the end of the sequences.

The show played at Middlesbrough theatre and Darlington Civic Theatre and all three of the audiences really got behind the performers. The feedback has been tremendous but, sadly, Moulin Rouge delivered our worst ever ticket sales.

We think this may be because Moulin Rouge is not very popular (and the film version is pretty weird). People either love it or hate it. Everyone should bear in mind though that it doesn’t matter which show we choose to produce – we always make it our own and give it the Earthbeat treatment. When have we ever let you down? Saying that, we’ll probably choose a more popular show next time and West Side Story is looking like the favourite.

A big well done though to the performers who really raised their game and gave the performances of their lives.
