ALADDIN
Aladdin was the first time that Earthbeat have attempted a pantomime style show, although our production was more in the style of the Disney version that the Window Twanky, Wishhee Washee version.
The show was more comedic than our typical productions and although we didn’t hit every gag we pulled most of them off. The audience seemed to be laughing an awful lot so we must have got away with it most of the time. The quality of the singing was extremely good and many people have commented on the lavish costumes.
Prior to the actual show we staged an additional performance for Skelton primary school (with whom we’d run some of our workshops) and although we were a little nervous about performing to a new kind of audience (i.e. Kids!) it came off great and the children really enjoyed it.
Aladdin was without doubt our most testing show and although we were very worried for most of the 14 month rehearsal period about whether it would be a triumph or a disaster we are pleased to report that it was absolutely brilliant. The performers all raised their game and gave performances that were enthusiastic, exciting, moving and, best of all, funny!
